Fast track your career

A CV is your personal press release to prospective employers. It is a positive and effective summary of you and your career to-date. It is designed to command attention and the highest possible job offer. Sadly, most CVs don't even start to do any of the above. They are a hotchpotch of skills, efforts and tasks. They neither excite nor convince the employer of the candidate's worth.

Why do many candidates put off finding out what is wrong with their current CV? The simple answer is 'they think their current CV will do'. But will it?

Sarah Berry, Managing Director of Career Consultants On-Line Ltd, says: "Most candidates are unaware of how their current CV is holding them back in their career.

Most CVs are put together in a rush and so they do not reflect the 'whole person'. There is a fine art to making your CV stand out from the competition and sell you to the fullest. It isn't about putting everything down on paper but about showing that you have taken ownership and responsibility for your career.

If you want something, then it is up to you to achieve it. Too many candidates fall into the category of 'would like to be', 'want to be' or 'it will happen for me someday."

"Try to place the ownership of your career in your own hands and see everything that happens to you as a positive step forward. If you value yourself then employers will value you too. Try to be as active as you can be in your job hunt and explore all the options."

Sarah has worked with all types of professionals over the past ten years and closely with institutes, agencies and employers to develop a very successful tried and tested CV format and CV assessment test. The CV assessment test helps the candidate to see where their CV is letting them down. It analyses and assesses a CV in five areas including:

Assessment Areas Maximum Score Recent Statistics show Avg. Candidates' CVs score:
Style and Personality 19 2
Effectiveness 20 3
Content 19 10
Accuracy 16 8
Presentation and Layout 26 15
Total: 100 38

The CV is analysed by a trained consultant. It will be given a score out of a 100 marks and individual comments will be made in terms of how the CV fairs in the above five areas.

Are you aware of what your CV would score in our CV assessment test? You have the opportunity to have your existing CV analysed. This would enable you to see how employers who have never met you before would perceive you when they read your CV for the first time. Would you like us to help you to create the best possible CV?
