Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words. If the rest of the world only lived up to your level of professionalism, so much more pleasant that would be!

15 Ways to Love the Job You Do

Over 40 per cent of employees are unhappy in their jobs but think leaving is too radical an option. So here are some steps to boost your enjoyment...

Sarah Berry, author of Thank God It's Monday offers the following tips on how to turn your current job into your dream job.

1 De-clutter your workspace - you need to feel in control and that means tidying the clutter that subconsciously scrambles your brain. Take time in your lunch breaks to sort out your work environment.
2 Get involved in social activities taking place outside your own department. Once the people you bump into every day in the lifts become familiar faces, you'll feel much more at home.
3 Save 'nice' tasks for when you feel down or worn out. If you're having a bad day, pick up the phone and deal with a customer or colleague you like to give yourself that necessary boost of positive energy.
4 Take an extra few minutes to get ready in the mornings. Everyone feels good when they've taken time with their appearance - you'll be surprised how much more positive it will make you feel.
5 Surround yourself with objects that lift the spirits - boost yourself by using a really nice mug for tea rather than drab paper cups or bringing in photos of last year's summer holiday.
6 If you work in a team, motivate colleagues by putting £1 a week into a 'treat kitty' - when things are particularly challenging, splurge on cream cakes for the whole department or go for cocktails to raise morale.
7 Negativity feeds on itself, so try not to fixate on the things you don't like about your job. Make it a rule to stop moaning to friends and family about what's wrong with your work situation.
8 Develop those skills you enjoy using the most. For example, if you really like interacting with clients or customers, ask your manager about books or courses to help you expand in this area.
9 Wherever you work, there will probably always be difficult people, so the solution is to change your mind-set: force yourself to think of their three most positive traits so you can start viewing them in a better light.
10 Intersperse business with pleasure. Feeling you have a genuine friend to turn to should make work a much brighter experience. Instigate a monthly team lunch during which you never discuss work.
11 Try to avoid gossip and bitchiness. It may be diverting, but all you're doing is creating a negative environment. Instead, channel your energy into making your job more pleasant.
12 Enthusiasm feeds upon itself but,  you may have to fake it at first. Throw yourself into your job, giving it your best and you'll soon be reaping the benefits. People will react to you more positively and you'll begin to feel genuine job satisfaction.
13 Write a list of 15 good things about your job and stick it on the fridge at home - for example, 'My salary means I can buy the things that make me happy.' Read your list every Sunday night or whenever you feel negative about your job.
14 Take control of where your career is heading by using 'solution talk' not 'problem talk'. Find answers to aspects of your job that are bothersome - your boss is far more likely to listen and take action if he/she doesn't have to think of all the answers him/herself.
15 Set an exit time from work every day and stick to it. This will provide an incentive to get tasks done by the end of the day. And for complete peace of mind, write down the next day's tasks and leave them behind when you go home.
